Jabra Headset Is Connected but No Sound

If your Jabra headset is connected but you’re getting no sound, the issue is likely caused by incorrect audio settings, muted output, outdated drivers, or application misconfiguration. Follow the steps below to troubleshoot and fix your Jabra headset when it’s connected but not producing any audio.

Step 1: Check Volume and Mute Settings

On the Headset

  • Make sure the volume is turned up using the buttons or wheel on the headset.
  • Ensure the headset isn’t muted (some models have a mute button that can be activated accidentally).

On the Computer or Phone

  • Increase the system volume.
  • Check for mute status in your operating system or app.

Step 2: Confirm Output Device Settings

On Windows

  1. Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar > Sound settings.
  2. Under Output, choose your Jabra headset.
  3. Click Device Properties > make sure it’s not muted and the volume is up.

On macOS

  1. Go to System Settings > Sound.
  2. Under Output, select your Jabra headset.
  3. Check the output volume is turned up.

Step 3: Set Jabra as Default Audio Device

On Windows

  1. Go to Control Panel > Sound > Playback tab.
  2. Right-click your Jabra headset > click Set as Default Device and Default Communication Device.
  3. Go to the Recording tab and do the same for the microphone.

Step 4: Check App-Specific Audio Settings

In Teams, Zoom, Skype, or Other Apps

  • Go to the app’s Audio or Devices settings.
  • Manually select your Jabra headset for both speaker and microphone.
  • Restart the app after changes.

Step 5: Test Audio on Another App or File

  • Try playing a video or music file to confirm whether the issue is system-wide or app-specific.
  • If media plays fine but calls don’t work, adjust settings in the communication app you’re using.

Step 6: Reconnect the Headset

Bluetooth Devices

  1. Go to your device’s Bluetooth settings.
  2. Remove or forget the Jabra headset.
  3. Put the headset in pairing mode (LED flashes blue or red/blue).
  4. Reconnect and test sound.

USB or Dongle

  • Try a different USB port (avoid USB hubs).
  • Reinsert the dongle or cable and wait for detection.
  • Open Jabra Direct to confirm it’s recognized.

Step 7: Update Firmware and Drivers

Use Jabra Direct (for PC)

  1. Install Jabra Direct.
  2. Connect your headset.
  3. Check for firmware updates and install them.

Update Audio Drivers (Windows)

  1. Open Device Manager.
  2. Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
  3. Right-click your Jabra device > Update driver.

Step 8: Reset the Headset

Soft Reset

  • Hold Call and Volume Down (or Power + Mute on some models) for 5–10 seconds.
  • Reconnect the headset and test again.

Step 9: Test on Another Device

  • Try connecting the Jabra headset to another phone, tablet, or computer.
  • If it works elsewhere, the issue is with the original device’s configuration.
