Jabra Headset Is Red

If your Jabra headset shows a solid or flashing red light, it typically indicates one of the following:

  • Busy status (in-call or do-not-disturb mode)
  • Low battery
  • Charging error
  • Firmware or hardware issue

Here’s how to interpret and fix a red LED on your Jabra headset.

Step 1: Identify the Type of Red Light

Solid Red

  • Most likely cause: Headset is set to “Busy” or “Do Not Disturb” mode.
  • Applicable to models like Jabra Evolve, Evolve2, Engage, and others with a busylight feature.

Flashing Red

  • Often indicates:
    • Low battery
    • Charging issue
    • Firmware error

Step 2: Check for Busy Light Mode

If You’re Using Microsoft Teams or Zoom

  • Your Jabra headset may automatically enter Busy mode during calls.
  • The red light stays on until:
    • The call ends.
    • You manually reset the busylight.

Manually Clear Busy Light

  • On some models (like Evolve2 series), tap the volume/multifunction button to turn off the busylight.
  • Or open Jabra Direct software and:
    • Go to your device > Busylight settings.
    • Disable it or change behavior.

Step 3: Check Battery and Charging

For Wireless Models

  • A blinking red light may mean low battery.
  • Connect the headset to power for at least 30–60 minutes.
  • Confirm that the light changes to yellow/orange (charging) or green (fully charged).

If Red Light Stays On While Charging

  • Try a different charging cable and adapter.
  • Inspect the charging port for dust or damage.
  • Avoid charging through USB hubs or monitors-use a direct power source.

Step 4: Reset the Headset

Soft Reset

  • Press and hold the Call and Volume Down buttons for 5–10 seconds, or use your model’s specific reset sequence.
  • This clears temporary errors and may resolve red-light glitches.

Step 5: Update Firmware

Use Jabra Direct (for PC)

  1. Download and open Jabra Direct.
  2. Connect your headset or dongle via USB.
  3. If a firmware update is available, install it.
  4. Restart the headset afterward.

Step 6: Check for Hardware Fault

  • If the red LED persists after charging and reset, and:
    • The headset won’t power on or be recognized
    • There’s no audio or mic function
  • This may indicate a hardware failure or firmware lockup.

When to Contact Jabra Support
