HP Printer Cannot Delete Output File – How to Fix it

When trying to print, you might see an error like “Cannot delete output file” on your HP printer. This usually occurs due to permission issues, software conflicts, spooler errors, or problems with the target file path.

Fix 1: Restart the Print Spooler Service

On Windows
  1. Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  2. Scroll to Print Spooler.
  3. Right-click it and select Restart.
  4. Try printing again.

Fix 2: Clear the Print Queue
  1. Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  2. Stop the Print Spooler service.
  3. Navigate to:
    C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS
  4. Delete all files in the folder (you may need admin rights).
