Activate Apple Watch Code Does Not Work – How to Fix It

If your Apple Watch activation code is not working, it may be due to incorrect settings, connectivity issues, or an activation lock. This guide provides step-by-step solutions to fix the issue and successfully activate your Apple Watch.

Check Basic Requirements

Ensure Your iPhone is Compatible

  • The Apple Watch must be paired with an iPhone 6s or later running the latest iOS version.
  • The Apple ID and iCloud account must be the same on both devices.

Enable Bluetooth and Wi-Fi

  1. Open Settings > Bluetooth on your iPhone and ensure it is turned on.
  2. Open Settings > Wi-Fi and connect to a stable network.

Restart Both Devices

Restart Your iPhone

  1. Press and hold the Power button (or Power + Volume button on newer models).
  2. Slide to power off, wait a few seconds, and turn it back on.

Restart Your Apple Watch

  1. Press and hold the Side button until the power-off slider appears.
  2. Drag the slider, wait a few seconds, and turn the watch back on.

Check If Activation Lock is Enabled

If the Apple Watch is still linked to another Apple ID, Activation Lock may be preventing activation.

Remove Activation Lock

  1. Go to iCloud.com and sign in with your Apple ID.
  2. Open Find My iPhone and select your Apple Watch.
  3. Click Remove from Account and confirm.
  4. Try activating the watch again.

Verify the Activation Code

Ensure You Are Entering the Correct Code

  • Double-check the 6-digit activation code displayed on the Apple Watch.
  • If the code does not appear, try pairing manually by selecting Pair Apple Watch Manually in the Watch app.

Reset Apple Watch and Try Again

If activation still fails, resetting the watch may help.

Reset Apple Watch to Factory Settings

  1. Press and hold the Side button until the power menu appears.
  2. Tap Erase All Content and Settings.
  3. Confirm and wait for the reset to complete.
  4. Restart the pairing and activation process.

Update iOS and watchOS

Update iPhone Software

  1. Open Settings > General > Software Update.
  2. Install any available updates.

Update watchOS

  1. Open the Watch app on iPhone.
  2. Go to General > Software Update.
  3. Install any available updates.

Reset Network Settings on iPhone

  2. Tap Reset > Reset Network Settings.
  3. Enter your passcode and confirm.
