JBL Speaker Won’t Connect to PC

If your JBL speaker won’t connect to your PC via Bluetooth, the issue is usually related to driver problems, incorrect Bluetooth settings, or pairing conflicts. Here’s how to troubleshoot and fix the connection on Windows PCs.

Put the JBL Speaker in Pairing Mode

Enable Pairing Mode

  1. Turn on the speaker.
  2. Press and hold the Bluetooth button until the LED starts flashing.
  3. This means the speaker is discoverable and ready to connect.

Disconnect From Other Devices

Turn off Bluetooth on phones, tablets, or other devices previously paired with the speaker, so it doesn’t auto-connect elsewhere.

Pair the JBL Speaker in Windows Settings

Add Device

  1. Go to Start > Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices.
  2. Turn Bluetooth on.
  3. Click Add Bluetooth or other device > Bluetooth.
  4. Select your JBL speaker from the list and click Connect.

If the Speaker Doesn’t Show

  • Make sure it’s still in pairing mode (flashing LED).
  • Bring the speaker closer to the PC (within 3–5 feet).
  • Restart both the speaker and the PC.

Remove and Re-Pair the Device

Forget the Device and Reconnect

  1. In Bluetooth & other devices, click your JBL speaker name.
  2. Click Remove device.
  3. Put the speaker back in pairing mode and re-add it.

Set the JBL Speaker as the Default Audio Output

Configure Sound Output

Even if the speaker is connected, Windows may still use the internal speakers:

  1. Right-click the volume icon in the system tray.
  2. Click Sound settings or Open Sound settings.
  3. Under Output, select your JBL speaker.

Update Bluetooth Drivers

Use Device Manager

  1. Press Win + X, then select Device Manager.
  2. Expand the Bluetooth section.
  3. Right-click your Bluetooth adapter and choose Update driver > Search automatically.
  4. Restart your PC after updating.

Restart Bluetooth Services

Restart Windows Bluetooth Support

  1. Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  2. Find Bluetooth Support Service.
  3. Right-click it and choose Restart.
  4. Set Startup type to Automatic.

Reset the JBL Speaker

Factory Reset

  • JBL Flip / Charge / Clip / Pulse: Hold Volume Up + Play/Pause for 10–15 seconds.
  • JBL Xtreme / Boombox / PartyBox: Hold Volume Up + Bluetooth until the speaker powers off.

Then re-pair with the PC.

Use a Wired Connection (if available)

AUX or USB

If your speaker has a 3.5mm AUX input or supports USB audio, connect it directly to the PC for immediate use.

Test With Another PC or Device

Confirm It’s Not a Speaker Issue

Try pairing your speaker with a different laptop or phone. If it works there, the problem lies with your original PC’s Bluetooth setup.

Contact JBL or PC Manufacturer Support

If the speaker won’t pair with any computer after all steps, contact JBL support for help. If no Bluetooth devices connect to your PC at all, contact your PC manufacturer about potential hardware or driver issues.
