If your JBL headphones won’t connect to your PC, the problem is likely related to Bluetooth settings, driver issues, or pairing conflicts. Whether you’re using Windows 10 or Windows 11, this guide provides all the steps needed to fix the issue and get your headphones working properly.
Put JBL Headphones in Pairing Mode
Activate Pairing
Ensure your headphones are ready to connect.
- Most JBL models: Hold the Power button until the LED flashes blue or red/blue.
- If your model has a separate Bluetooth button: Hold that button instead.
Clear Previous Pairings
JBL headphones can remember older devices.
- Turn off Bluetooth on nearby phones or tablets.
- Reset your headphones: usually by pressing Power + Volume Up for 10–15 seconds (model-dependent).
Enable and Use Bluetooth on Windows PC
Turn on Bluetooth
- Go to Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices
- Toggle Bluetooth ON
Pair the Headphones
- Click Add Bluetooth or other device
- Select Bluetooth
- Wait for your JBL headphones to appear, then click to connect
If they don’t appear, make sure your headphones are in pairing mode and within 3 feet of the PC.
Forget and Re-Pair the Headphones
If the JBL headphones show up but won’t connect:
- Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices
- Click on your JBL headphones > Remove device
- Restart your PC and headphones
- Reconnect via Add device
Restart Both Devices

Reboot your computer to clear temporary Bluetooth issues.
Check Bluetooth Drivers
Update Bluetooth Driver
- Press Windows + X > Device Manager
- Expand Bluetooth
- Right-click your Bluetooth adapter > Update driver
- Select Search automatically for drivers
Reinstall Bluetooth Driver (Optional)
- In Device Manager, right-click the Bluetooth adapter > Uninstall device
- Restart your PC – Windows will reinstall it automatically
Check Bluetooth Support
Make Sure Your PC Has Bluetooth
- Desktops may not have built-in Bluetooth. Use a USB Bluetooth adapter if necessary.
Enable Bluetooth in BIOS (if applicable)
Some laptops may have Bluetooth disabled in BIOS or via a hardware switch (function key).
Set JBL Headphones as Default Audio Output
- Right-click the volume icon in the taskbar > Sounds
- Under the Playback tab, select your JBL headphones
- Click Set Default > Apply
If they’re listed as “Connected” but there’s no sound, this step usually fixes it.
Run Bluetooth Troubleshooter
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot
- Select Additional troubleshooters
- Run the Bluetooth troubleshooter and follow the prompts
Try Wired Mode (If Available)
If your JBL headphones have a 3.5mm AUX jack or USB port:
- Connect directly to your PC to test basic audio functionality
- Confirms if Bluetooth is the issue vs. general hardware failure
Test on Another Device
- Try pairing your headphones with a phone or tablet
- If they connect elsewhere, the PC is the issue
- If not, the problem lies with the headphones
Update Windows
Keeping Windows up to date ensures the latest Bluetooth compatibility.
- Go to Settings > Windows Update
- Install all pending updates
Contact JBL Support
If the headphones fail to connect to any device:
- Visit support.jbl.com
- Choose your model and check for firmware updates or warranty options
- Request repair or replacement if under warranty
JBL connection issues with PCs are typically resolved by resetting the headphones, updating drivers, or reconfiguring Windows Bluetooth settings.
