If your Canon printer is not printing black ink, the issue is usually caused by clogged printheads, empty or faulty cartridges, incorrect settings, or firmware/software problems. 1. Check the Black Ink Cartridge

6. Check for Firmware or Software Issues

Update Firmware:

  • Search your printer model and download the latest firmware update.

Reinstall the Printer Driver:
  • Uninstall the current driver.
  • Reinstall the latest driver from Canon’s website.
  • Restart the computer and printer after installation.

7. Use Genuine Canon Ink Cartridges

Canon printers often experience issues when using:

  • Refilled cartridges
  • Third-party or generic cartridges
  • Cartridges with faulty chips

Switching to genuine Canon ink can resolve detection and printing issues.

8. Perform a Printer Reset

If none of the steps work:

  1. Go to Settings > Device Settings > Reset Settings.
  2. Choose Reset All (this will reset all printer preferences).
  3. Reconfigure the printer and attempt to print again.

9. When Black Still Doesn’t Print

If the black ink still does not print after all cleaning and troubleshooting:
